Sound Guard and laminate floors

Hello, I bought some BHK laminate flooring today to install next weekend. The sales person was trying to sell me a product called Sound Guard underlayment for .55 cents a square foot. Is this product necessary if I am installing the laminate over a concrete surface. The laminate is 7MM. Thanks in advance for the advice.....

Is this an upgrade from the normal underlayment required by the manufacture. If your going over concrete you need a vapor barrier and then foam or fiber board underlayment depending on grade and desired or required appropriate sound deading.

The installation comes with standard underlayment and vapor barrier. They are trying to sell the Sound Guard as an additional upgrade for .55 cents a square foot. Is this really needed?

Sound protection isn't generally needed unless your rock band or Irish dance troupe is practicing there.

Sound proofing is mostly for DBA. In other words, your downstairs neighbors. (the devil?)
But it also makes the lam sound less hollow. If that is worth 55 cents, then go for it.

What if the floor is being installed on the bottom floor of concrete? Does it make a huge difference with the hollow sound?
