Smell from used engineered wood causing diziness

I bought some second hand engineered wood which is about 3 years old and was apparently previosuly installed in an office block.

Since buying them I noticed a sharpish smell coming from them. It is definately from the wood I'm not sure if it is from the back of the wood planks or the click parts which look like they are made form cardboard.

Anyway this smell was causing me and my friends diziness. Does anybody know what this smell is?

When I lay it down will these fumes completely go? I tried a few pieces and noticed some planks had small gaps between them although I could probably fill these up with wood filler. In any case I am concerned the smell is a toxin which will come up throgh any gaps and pollute my air.

Thanks
