Small room hardwwod refinish

Just took up carpet in a small bedroom approx 9x11. Nice hardwood but will need refinish. With this small of a floor is it reasonble to use a small belt sander (palm sander for the edges) or do I need to use the big sander that I would have to rent?

Avoid drum sanders if you have used one, can ruin a floor in a heartbeat. Rental disk sanders do a better job, and get very close to edges. I would not use a belt sander, to much chance for gouges. Palm sander would probably work, but awfully slow.
