Small hole in finished floor

Help,

We recently ( 3 months ago) had our wood floors stained and refinished. Everything looks good.
The floor guy had to replace several boards of wood that were damaged by termites. Nothing active now but the old carpet hid the damage.

we just noticed that there is one spot were some wood filler must have come loose out of a small hole. BUT, when you tap around the hole, you can tell some of the board is hollow, under the finished layer.
It is not a big area, maybe a half inch long by quarter inch wide.

What can I fill that space with? It would have to be something I could squeeze into the space. If i use a hard putty I am goig to crack the finished layer. Can I use the wood putty that comes in a tube? will that harden enough?

I could use some help, the floor guy wants to just cut out the board and refinish, at my cost.

Thanks for any advice!

Removing that board would be the best way. Any fillers will show.

The actual opening at the top is pretty small. I think I could hide it with the stain pen. I am more worried about someone stepping on it with a heel and pushing through the top.

What kind of epoxy do you think?

would that harden to something that could take some weight?

Thanks.

It would definitely be hard enough to withstand anything. just go to lowes and read the packaging and find what is best for wood.
