Should wood planks run parallel or perpendicular to doorway

Want to install hardwood floor. Do i install planks perpendicular or parallel to doorway? Does it matter if planks are not perpendicular to floor joists? My floor is 16 o.c. - 2x10. thanks

generally... flooring is run in the long direction of the house/room.
but there are no laws to prevent other choices being used

As long as it's T&G you can run it in any direction you can think up. Good luck !

I don't know if that's entirely true, If the subfloor is of adequate strength then you could run it any way.

Sorry.. They said 2x10's 16'' OC, I suppose I assumed it was T&G 3/4ply. To clarify.. When was the home built and what kind of plywood is sitting on top of your 2x10's?

Then if your laying over osb T&G any way is fine, suggestion to run it longest way of the room would look better I think.
