self-stick vinyl tiles w/grout between them

I saw these in Home Depot yesterday. They're thicker and more rigid than regular vinyl tiles and they have a display where they were spaced apart and had grout between them. Looked and felt like real ceramic tiles. Anybody have experience with these?

Hey cswanson69,

I have used those ones before, and they worked out pretty well in the small office area that I did. I used the Shasta color and it turned out really well for me. I also opted to go for the grout, which I thought gave it a really neat look too. It feels almost like a tile floor underfoot!

Only things you may want to note:

  • It does take a bit more to cut through, since it is definitely thicker than the average peel & stick. Get yourself a nice, sharp retractable blade along with a t-square, or opt for a vinyl cutter.
  • Make sure the grout gets adequate drying time, leave overnight if at all possible.
  • I sealed mine too, since it does remain porous just like when on tile. Just get a small brush on sealer and go over it so it doesn't stain later on.
Let me know how it works out for you if you decide on them, or if I can answer any other questions for you~

Nope, but I've seen them too.

One thing I would research before installing these is deflection, or the amount of bounce in your floor.

The tiles may be flexible, but grout is not. If your floor bounces or moves at all the grout may eventually crack and break apart.
