Self leveling mortor?

I am installing a warm wire kit from suntouch. Can i use a self leveling mortor over the wires? I have cement wonderboard down that im going to put the wires over. Im thinking this would be the safest way to not knick the wires. If i can use the self leveling mortor how do keep it from getting into the heating duct? Can i simply block it off?
