Self-leveling finish compound over VAT?

Hello all, I am looking for some advice or feedback. Remodeling the walk-out basement in our 1950's modern house. The floor currently has VAT tiles firmly adhered to the concrete slab. Having looked into the process of removing the VAT both myself and through an abatement contractor, I plan to leave the VAT in place and go over it with new floor.
I really like the look of a finished a concrete floor. One idea I have looked into is to put a self-leveling compound down (about 1/4" thick) and stain and seal it. Looks the Mapei Ultraplan M20 would be a good fit. Of course there are concerns about adhering to the VAT. For the same reason as removing the tile, I don't want to scar the surface of the VAT. So I was thinking about cleaning the floor and then putting down a primer - Mapei Ultraprime WE, which states is meant to give adhesion to VAT.
Can anyone give me some feedback on this plan... will this work well? Are there better products to do this?

Any self leveling compound I have ever used is to soft for use as a wear surface----so your plan will fail with the common mixes-----call Mepei and ask them----they will know---

I just can not see anyway that plans going to work out.
Time for plan B.
Engineered, laminite, carpet, tile would all be better choises.

M20 is more of a topping compound so it can indeed be used without a floor covering over it. I don't know how well it would stain though. Adhesion is always going to be an issue in these cases, which is why every bit of paperwork recommends against using it over VAT since you can't really abrade the surface.

Thanks for your feedback. I called Mapei and they recommend scarring the surface that the M20 will be applied to, and of course, do NOT recommend scarring VAT.
However, after calling them, I noticed that their Ultraprime WE is designed to go over surfaces including VAT to provide adhesion for their M series overlays. Product sheet:

That is what I was thinking of using for a primer before the M20. Seems that I might be pushing it with this.

I have also done some more looking around, and came across Semco floors. They say that this will go down over VAT, no problem.
