Seeking quick answer please! Self-leveling compound.

If I were to use self-leveling compound to level a concrete subfloor in a hall, my concern is that this room flows immediately into my family room with a high pile carpet. What is the best way to build a dam to keep the compound from the carpet? I'm getting ready to do this hopefully in the next 30 min.

You can see the area here:

After reading your last post, I do not see why you would use floor leveller.
The minor difference you mentioned would disappear with thinset.
Then you have a potential of creating a worse situation then the 1/16" you have now, not to mention what the wife will do to you if you get it on the carpet.

Thanks. I'm just paranoid that I will have problems once I start and at that point it will be a mess.

Tape down a strip of wood---or use plumbers putty---
