sealing concrete floor before tiling ??

should you seal a concrete basement floor before laying ceramic tile. the concrete floor in my basement is 25 years old , it was power troweled but not too smooth, just normal. the floor is smooth, level and is bone dry year around . is there any reason to seal the floor to improve adhesion or any other reason.someone told me to, but i think the thinset morter would adhere better to the concrete than to a sealer. thanks for any help drummers

You are right --leave the concrete alone--no sealer--I would use a modified thinset.--Mike--

Just read the bag, it'll tell you to remove any sealers that might be on the concrete. Not an easy task. The concrete has to be porous, otherwise how is the thin set going to bond?

How about cracks, expansion joints, control joints, cold joints?
