Default Sanding Timber Floors

I have cyprus pine timber floorboards which I would like to sand and stain. I have tried to do this in the past and have made a huge mess of it and I have always been left with poor results. Is there someone out there who might advise me how best to proceed? What tools etc?

Many thanks

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd never suggest you try to sand a floor for a DIY project. 1st, you have a soft wood that'll quickly be eaten away by a sander. Next, it takes a lot of experience to sand a floor good. I have experience and I still don't consider myself great. If you are set in wanting to tackle this yourself, I can talk you through the steps but I do NOT recommend it.

Ok. Now, before we start our actual project, I need to go over the sanders that I brought with me. First off, we have the orbital sander and then we have the random orbit sander. Now, they both sound very similar but they do two very different things... Read More »
