saltillo tile

I need to make my saltillo floor more level. It is unlevel so when you walk for a while it hurts your feet. Can I grind it down to make it more level and smooth? -then I will reseal .

saltillo tile

did you ever get an answer on this? I do not like my tile (came with the house) and would like to do the same to make it more bearable.

saltillo tile

Sorry gang--that is soft unbaked clay--No way that I have ever heard of flattening it.

Buy a tile---attack it with a sander and see if you like the look---They are soft, sun dried clay with a sealer---I suspect the the interior will be prone to voids and unacceptable---

Mike is completely right. Saltillo is DESIGNED to look that way! I agree, it's an acquired taste. If you don't like the look now - you will not like the look after you tried to "sand / grind" it.
