What is the easiest way to repair soft rotted wood under vinyl flooring?

What do you mean by easy?

Remove the vinyl and underlayment--then cut out the rotted subfloor to the joists--Add blocking--add new subfloor---replace the underlayment and vinyl--

If that sounds easy or hard--that's what needs to be done.---Mike----
