rosin paper / advice on installation

I'll be putting down red rosin paper as my underlayment for my wood flooring. What's the best method to attach that to the subfloor? Also read that it should overlap a few inches with the sheet next to it.

I have a stapler, but was afraid of staples causing squeaks later on down the road....

Loose lay it or staple just to keep it from moving when working on it. There are really no set guidelines to go by.

rosin paper / advice on installation

If it's over a living area, rosin's ok. If over a crawl space, many use a asphalt underlay paper because of the moisture present. (Rosin paper has a permeability of over 50, won't stop any water vapor). Easy read..... http://hardwoodinfo.com/pdf/articles...-_Concrete.pdf Home Depot carries the paper I'm thinking of....not just tar paper, but specifically for under hardwoods. Be safe, GBAR
