Rosin or felt under strip flooring when you have faced insulation below?

I've searched and I keep reading conflicting information. If I have a vapor barrier on the insulation under the subfloor then why would I need to have a moisture barrier under the flooring? The label on the rosin paper said it was a moisture barrier but I have a hard time believing it really does much beyond minimizing squeaks.

Am I wrong? Should I be putting felt or rosin under the flooring? At the moment I'm planning to put the rosin under it for the squeaking, assuming I'm right that it's not really a moisture/vapor barrier.

Rosin or felt under strip flooring when you have faced insulation below?

I"m putting down 900sqft of engineered HW this week. I got 15# felt as opposed to rosin paper. Better safe than sorry, why skimp when it only costs a few dollars more...

I can see that point. However, I’m still wondering why it would be necessary if I already have a vapor barrier below the OSB. I’m not trying to be cheap or lazy on this, I’m just wondering why you’d double up the barrier on the floor. You’re not supposed to double up a vapor barrier on a wall because moisture can get trapped between the two layers. Why would it be okay on the floor?
