I've heard that sentiment before about all the things I've might die of, it doesn't really give peace of mind, only the test rests will do that.

Also, twisted knickers and harpie references are usually a female-oriented insult, so thanks for that.

I would be surprised if anything you have touched so far contains asbestos.

If the shoe fits, as the saying goes.

Honestly, to be freaking out about this for a floor of a 1987 house is pretty much ridiculous.

Yes, of course, ANYTHING is possible. But I'd venture you're far more likely to be struck smack in the center of your forehead by a meteorite than any adverse affects from asbestos in that floor. Which is to say astronomically small chance of either.

I'd wonder whether divorce now might be a saving grace...

Unlike radon, mitigation of which is a total scam, asbestos is actually hazardous if airborne fibers are breathed in. But only after long-term exposure to many times higher levels than you'll ever find in your home. Ever seen one of those "sue somebody because you have mesothelioma" commercials that targeted homeowners? Probably not, and there's a reason for that.

What made you think anyone cared, or that it mattered? I certainly don't.

To all who provided experiential, useful information, thank you.

Lab called and all three layers were negative for asbestos!
I'm turning on the A/C, letting my cats run around and having a mini-party!
