Replcing linoleum with 12x12 tiles
I have a linoleum floor that I want to replace. I was thinking about using the 12 x 12 stick down tiles. I used these in my rental unit with no problem because of the size of the floor it would be much cheaper. I have 2 questions.
1) do I need to remove the existing linoleum or can I treat the floor and go over I believe it was glued down and Iím afraid of trying to peal it up only to run into areas I canít remove.
2) My kitchen has a slight downward slope on one end do to settling on that side of the house it does move slightly during the seasons would the tiles be able to handle this or would they crack or pop up
Peel and stick is of the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to vinyl.
It can have some real problems after install.
chances are, that sheet vinyl will perform better in your situation, but you might still want to give the peel n stick a try.
embossing leveler will still need to be used first.
Peel and stick will work fine on top of old linoleum
It is much better than it used to be. I believe it has surpassed sheet in variety and even durability.
If your old linoleum is sticking good, the new stuff will adhere just fine. On larger squares, you might get some shrinkage around the dishwasher or heater vents due to thermal expansion. I have used Liquid nails for projects to cure that issue.
