All,
I have a serious leak in my 2nd floor bathroom due to a bad tile job in my shower. I have ripped all of the tiles out and am down to the joists/ studs, and plumbing. I plan on installing the following: 7/8" plywood screwed into the joists, 3/4" plywood on top of that, a 1/4" layer of thin set, and then screw in hardy board let sit for 24 hours then tile.
My question is should I be adding some sort of rubber membrane somewhere in the process? If so, how would I go about doing so. Secondly should i be using hardyboard for the walls and cieling and just screwig it directly into the studs? Finally do you have any important tips or reccomendations?
Thanks,
Jack
