Replacing carpet with linoleum
I am wanting to redo my bathrooms and one of them has carpet. I have some linoleum that my son is going to give me that's leftover from a bathroom in a house he just got, but I don't know how to install or put it in. It's not big enough for anything in the house he is in but I am pretty sure I can do both of my bathrooms with it :) any help or suggestions would be appreciated!! :)
Carpet in any bathroom is never a good thing.
Remove it the padding and the carpet strips and see just how much subfloor rot you have.
The toilet, 1/4 round and anything else sitting on the floor has to be removed.
Your going to have to find out what's under the carpet.
There's going to have to a layer of 1/4 sublfoor rated underlayment that gets attached every 4" on the outsides and every 6 to 8" in the field, with floor leveler to fill the seams and any flaws.
The flooring gets precut over sized, and rolled up. Your going to have to have a tooth trowled to spread out the adhesive. Glue gets applyed at one end of the room where your going to start rolling it out leaving a space on the edges so as the glue gets pressed out it does not make a mess on the walls. Once layed you go over the whole floor with a floor roller.
It would be a really simple and not that expencive job for someone who does floors all the time. SO you may want to concider getting it done for you.
Ok thank you for the advice :) I'll check into having it done :) appreciate it!!
