Repairing a broken settled cement slap to repair broken tiles
I purchased a home with an in-law appartment. I am told the inlaw unit was originally a 3 car garage. We removed some carpeting over a previously tiled floor. Near the edge of the slab footing, there is a breakage of tiles about 16 feet long in a straight line approximately 12 inches from the outside wall. It is very apparent the floor has settled. I can tap along the breaks and on one side you will hear a solid sound and the other side is a hollow sound, You can physically feel and observe the downward angle of the slab, causing the breakage. My question is: After I remove the broken tiles, how should I fill in the section that has settled and how do I smooth or sand down the higher sections. I am open for all suggestions.
