Repair or Replace these Oak floors???

Ok....here it goes. At some point in time the previous home owner decided he had the skills to refinish the hardwood floors himself. It's a disaster. There's enough hair under the poly to make a wig for Elton John.

Besides the hair and other foreign objects suspended in time under the poly, there are numerous 1/8" gaps between the boards.

We have approx 850 sq ft of hardwood. The gaps are mainly in the hallway and living room. There were bent-over nails along the baseboard in some areas. Not sure why someone would bend them over instead of just pull them out or nail them in. I got most of them out, but a few snapped off. The craftsmanship in this house is astonishing (not so much).

Would you have these gaps filled, or tear them out and replace them.
I'm thinking of maybe doing radiant floor heating if they are taken out. I need to start playing the lotto though.

If it was a cute house with Character that was built by our forefathers or something I wouldn't think of replacing the floors. It's just a lame 70's raised ranch. I believe it has good "bones" but the aesthetics leave much to be desired.

Repair or Replace these Oak floors???

I'de take a drum sander to get all the varnish off it (if it's real hardwood), then put Elmers or some kind of recommended glue in the cracks and sand again on those areas. The sawdust will bond with the glue and blend very nicely. Re-varnish. A professional floor person may come along and give you better advice.
