removing tile over radiant floor heat
Our foyer tile is unattractive, but it was laid over the radiant floor heat system (water) before a barrier was required so removal won't be easy. A similar project to remove tile on a bathroom floor turned out to be tedious and difficult. I'm looking for advice in removing tile or a suggested alternative--tile over tile, stained concrete? Help!

Please give more information if you can. Is it over a "Subray" or "Warmboard" system, or a thin slab?
Most of the time, it requires destruction of the tile in a very controlled fashion, which is time consuming but necessary, and the technique varies according to the construction.

You can lay tile over tile but you must have prime conditions to do this.
It will also give you hieght issues at your edges.
You have many issues here that would suggest an overlay will be acceptable,IE: Hydroheat.

In the past I have had customers unwilling to pay for full removals so I laid ditra over the tile in preperation for the new tile.
Ditra will not impede the performance of the heat system either
To date it has been very successful with no customer complaints or floor failures.
This is not an advised procedure by any means just a suggestion to allow room for discussion.

Also:Since I am new to the board but not the trade.......
The local tile setters will see my post and investigate as they should have from the start.
