Removing tile from hardwood

The previous owners had carpet laid and tile over nice hardwood floor. The carpet was pulled up and the hw floor looks great. Recently the tile by the door has been breaking apart. I would like to pull up the tile and have the hw floor remain consistent in my family room. Any suggestions are welcomed. Please respond in amateur vernacular because of my lack of experience

Thanks

Well, we don't know what the hardwood floor looks like after you've pulled up the tile, so, we can only take a guess that the floor will need to be sanded and refinished.

Was the tile laid right on top of the hardwood, or was there a cement backer board? (more out of curiousity, because whoever did that is a freakin' idiot)

Thank you. I would have the whole floor sanded and refinished. But in the meantime, maybe just toss a rug there.

Well I can't really do that anytime soon($). Is there a way I can take care of the impacted area and have it blend into the rest of the floor?

Rug would be my choice then.

Good news is that you have a really beautiful floor. Throw rug for now, save sheckles, get it resanded. Putting tile down on that floor was obscene.
