Removing Particle Board w/ Hand Tool
 

Greetings,

I am remodeling my bathroom and looking to install tiled flooring. There is a large piece of particle board that I can't remove. The board is mounted to the floor, and I can't remove the mounting material. How can I remove the particle board without using power tools?

Many have suggested a circular saw, but I'm trying to save money. Is there a way for me to remove the particle board without using any power tools?

What hand tools do you own?

Use a brace and bit and a key hole saw---if it's glued use an adz.

Thank you for the recommendation. I was able to remove the boards with a wonder bar, mallet, and a lot of pulling.

And just how you you plan on doing all the other work needing to be done to do this job right without power tools?

Looking to stir the pot, are we? It seems you're implying the OP hasn't thought this through.

Well, now that the particle board is up, He/she may be able to finish the rest with just a drill (to fasten the CBU down). Possibly the OP already has a drill, is already planning the purchase of a drill, or is able to borrow one.

The OP certainly didn't say he/she is against the idea of power tools, because they are the root of all evil and are the primary cause of global warming. The OP just wanted to save some money where possible and was able to achieve that goal.

Be real here---when did the first house get built in North America?

When did power tools get invented?----I knew a carpenter who could rip a board with a hand saw in less time than it took me to fetch an extension cord..

This member may not have power--or the desire to use power tools---
