Removing dark black spot on light beige carpet X(

My roommate/tenant (finally) moved out. While shoveling out his room, I discovered a cluster of dark black spots on my light beige carpet that I had installed 2 years ago. I want to clean it up as best as I can before my father comes in with the carpet cleaner. What would be the best solution so I don't set it in permanently (if it isn't already)?
