Remove old hardwood glue b4 laying tile?
Hi all, Our house was severely flooded and our hardwood, of course, was unsalvageable. We are first time homeowners and don't have a lot of knowledge on remodeling (and didn't intend to do so anytime soon). Anyways, we are laying "hardwood looking" tile and need to know how important it is to have all old glue from the previous hardwood removed or sanded down, and the best way to do so. Any advice would be much appreciated as we are doing this ourselves. Thanks:)

The only way is to use a razor scraper, and a lot of elbow grease.

What type of tile? Vinyl squares or ceramic?

Porcelain Tile
The tiles are 6 x 20 porcelain, and I would like the grout as thin as possible if that matters. Thanks

It might be a good idea to tell us what type of substrate you have.

I really am not sure what type substrate it is. It was put in before we moved in. How can I tell, would a picture help?

Excellent idea, that should help.
