Remove Old Grout

Good morning...can anyone help me with their experiences in removing old grout from a ceramic tile floor.

I have a small bathroom floor I would like to regrout. The tile is nice and in great shape but I hate the creme color (now yicky, stained creme color) of the grout the previous owners selected so I would like to "dig out" the existing grout and replace with a darker color.

I know there is a type of Dremmel tool that can be used, but I need more specifics on that. I know a hammer and chisel could be used but I do not want to take the chance of damaging the tile by going that route so....

What is the easiest and most gentle on the tile way to remove this disgusting old grout????

I have seen both plastic and metal de-grouting tools in Walmart that are used to dig out all grout before replacing. I have not actually used them myself so I can't say how good they are.

Also, you may want to try a grout-pen. These are used to release a small layer of grout onto existing grout to bring it back to that new look.

Leave it, use a grout cleaner and sealer remover if it's sealed, then a grout colorant, ALOT easier.

How about those rotary tools... I used them to remove silicon around the shower pan before, and it works great, I remember I saw somthing on the manual where they also have a grout removal head for grout removal... as they can be set at extreme high speed, I would think it should work, it probably like the dentists using their rotary tool to dig up the old filling on your teeth before putting in new one...

Well, may be this is the same as those tools other people upstair talking about...
