This comes an earlier post of mine where pulled up some carpet to investigate a wet spot in the basement (but I believe it was just a spill). I pulled about 13 feet of carpet about 18 inches from the wall. The basement is actually longer than 13 feet but there is a small 18 inch wall that sitcks out. If I do this myself, what are some useful tips. What I have read usually discusses a new install and uses a kicker along the edges, followed by using a stretcher, and finally then finally cutting and tucking. Since this is just laying it back down, would the recommended procedure still be knee kicker followed by stretcher and then tuck, or just the kicker, or just the stretcher? I've heard the stretcher can easily ruin and tear the carpet if you are not careful.
I finished the basement myself with some help from my dad (a former builder) so I am typically able to do alot myself with some careful preparation, and a local rental place has both a kicker and a stretcher.
