Refurbishing hardwood floors with gaps

I'm refurbishing my maple floors that were installed back in the 40's. I'm sanding them down and plan on using a polyurethane. Most of the floor boards have gaps between them. Some up to say maybe 1/4". What should I do with the gaps? Some of the floor is in hight traffice area. Please help. Thanks

Refurbishing hardwood floors with gaps

Some floors are beyond repair...

That said, you could go with lots and lots of putty.
