Refinishing Hardwood Floors When to have done
I am doing a complete remodel on a second floor. I have done most of the work myself. Getting close to be completed. I plan to hire someone to do the floor over. Hardwood floors, sand and poly. All the trim is in place. Ceilings are finished. Walls are primed. Should I have the floors refinished before I install baseboards and paint walls or fully complete the walls and hang baseboard before the floors are refinished? Will the baseboards get banged up if I do them first by the sanders? What makes more sense?
I'm bumping this because I have the same questions... we're re-finishing the HW on our first floor, trying to decide when to do it.
I def. want to do it after the plumbers/electricians and kitchen cabinet people have finished because I want to avoid scuffing the new floor.
I was planning to remove my baseboard trim, have everything finished, paint the walls, then re-attach and touch up the trim as needed.
Leave the base off till the floor is refinished .
You can paint the walls .
