Refinishing hardwood floor newbie

I've got 800+ sqft of red oak hardwoods in a house we just bought. We have drum sanded, edged, and used a Fein multitool to sand the corners. I have filled in the nail holes and a few cracks/rough spots that bugged me. I thought i was ready to seal, but now i keep seeing sander marks and other little defects. i realize as a newbie i will not get this professionally sanded...but how do i know when to quit??! i realize this is a nebulous question, but humor me. We plan on using Bonaseal and then two coats of traffic in satin. I don't plan on inviting any professional floor finishers to dinner- is anyone else going to notice little swirl marks along the edges of the floor?

So- do I go rent a square buffer and try to clean up the rooms a bit more, or should I just go ahead and seal.

I have pictures, but they don't really show the defects.

If your seeing swirl marks ,you need to go to a higher grit paper not a buffer, wipe a section of the floor with paint thinner, and if there's swirls you'll see them.

I ended up renting home depot's rectangular plate floor sander with a buffing pad and 100 grit screen. Swirl marks are gone and now I start cleaning like mad to get it ready to stain. I am in a time crunch but don't want to do a shoddy job. I feel a lot better about how it looks and feels now.
