refinishing hardwood floor

Hello

A question concerning refinishing hardwood floors.

Should the return vent be closed off in the area where sanding will be done, if furnace will be on, depends on temperature I guess.
OR
place filtering material over vent to help dust from getting into furnace blower.

Thanks

Bill

We usually cover them up or just replace the furnace filter when done.
