Recipe for woodfloor filler?

Just finished installing 1700 sq. ft. of 3/4" cabin grade red oak. Will start sanding tomorrow. Fair amount of splits and open knot holes. Sanding sequence, 40, 60, 100 grit. Would like to take the sawdust from the sanding and mix with ? and squegee the whole floor and then sand with 100 grit again. Should I buy black wood filler for the knotholes and fill them first and then squeege the filler over every board? Any advice would be appreciated.
