I plan on installing some 3/4" nail down engineered.
i have some 3/4" car decking subfloor. I plan on putting 3/8" plywood on top. Of course the floor needs to be flat. I plan on using mostly wood shims to help flatten it out.

Does the shimming/flattening process supposed to be performed before or after the underlayment goes down?

Well I'm confused?.. U want to install 3/4" engineered HW over car decking or your car decking is the floor in want to install?

3/8" plywood underlayment on
3/4" plank car decking subfloor
