Ranch base moulding in place of reducer

I have a tile floor transitioning into a wood floor. The tile is 5/8 high and I was going to use a reducer, but have found that it is much cheaper to buy ranch base moulding and it has almost the identical shape as the reducer. Is there any reason not to use the moulding in place of the reducer.

This should work just fine. As long as your client is ok with it, I don't see any reason why not.

It should be made from the same wood as you floor. Buy square stock and rip a bevel on the tablesaw

I use oak in my house to go from floor to tile. It was cut on a table saw to the size needed. Oak base will work. I have both pine and oak colonial in my house. Oak is stained and pine is painted white.
