Raise the height of my sub-floor in prep for laminate flooring
I'm looking for a little advice. My subfloor is 3/4" tongue & groove plywood. I need to raise the subfloor surface 1/4" so that the surface of the new Armstrong laminate flooring I purchased matches the height of my kitchen tile floor. I have read that 1/4" birch plywood should be applied over my existing subfloor. QUESTION: Do I really need to spend $20 a pop for 25 sheets; or is there a cheeper and adaquate grade of material available for this? Thanks in advance for any advise.
