Question on Acid Wash Flooring in Basement?

I'm not sure whether this question is better suited for the concrete forum? I've been investigating basement flooring options for a while now and still haven't decided on what to do. Acid washing seems like a great solution, but I'm not sure whether my concrete floor can be properly cleaned. The slab has some black mastic residue and over that is a carpet glue/adhesive. Does anyone know whether there is an effective way of removing this without contaminating the house? Any suggestions on this? Thank you!
