Putting 2 more coats poly

Ok we had our floors done the other day with water based and a matte finish. He put three coats of poly and They came out very nice. My wife wanted two extra coats because of the heavy traffic. He is coming tonight to do it. Just curious.. Is all that's required is to just put on the poly??? No other steps? He buffed the other coats but I read you don't buff water based. Is that true? Thanks

There are a bunch of different WB makers/brands. Depending on how long the last coat has been down, many recommend a light scratch coat before the other coats. I'd read the can (manufactures rec). Can also be a function between gloss verse matte.

I always like to do a light scratch coat, I think it gives just a little better appearence.
