Proper coverage of basement slab

savy Newbie   Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 1	Proper coverage of basement slab I want to put cermanic tile in my basement. The floor surface is a cement slab. My home is 4 years old. Do I need to place a sub floor down first before laying the tile? And if I do what type do I use? Someone please give me some advice as I would like to start on this project soon. Savy

Bud Cline Tileguy     Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 9,104	Proper coverage of basement slab You wouldn't use a "subfloor" over a concrete floor. Tile can be installed directly to the concrete. What condition is the concrete in? Any cracks? Is the surface reasonably flat? What size tile do you desire?
