You're "stains" might actually be haze. Try buffing with a dry cloth, and perhaps by some 'grout haze remover' and scrub with it. Then try a tile and stone cleaner if that doesn't get it all. Both are pretty cheap.
Contrary to popular belief, a lot of porcelain tile has to be sealed before grouting.
