pergo on top of concrete...

Hey guys I'm installing pergo for the first time. And its on a slab house. I'm trying to figure out how to attach the thresholds. The bedrooms are pergo and the hallway is carpet. Should I use liquid nails??? Also my helper messed up on a lot of cuts and there is a lot of pieces that are 1/2" from the edge of the wall. What's the cheapest most effective remedy? The flooring was on clearance so its hard to match...

Fire the helper.
Use a hammer drill to make the holes to insert the plastic anchors that come with the transition strips.
The backing strips for the trasition really should have been installed before the flooring was run up to them so you would know where to cut the flooring.
Sounds like you stuck with having to use 3/4" 1/4 round now to cover up the gaps. Make sure the nails go into the baseboard not the flooring.

I almost never even use a tape measure when installing laminite. When you get to the end of a row you simply spin the piece around, set your gap by eye and mark the piece by lining it up with the one already in place.

If I simply cover the gap with moulding, what keeps the boards from separating when people walk on it? Or does that only happen with laminate flooring?

You said it was Pergo so I assumed you were already talking about laminite.
Is it not a twist lock type flooring you have?
It needs to be able to expand and contract as a unit, if it's attached in anyway to the sub floor in anyway that's when it pulls apart.

Yea we got name brand pergo. I ask that because we have another rental house here in Vegas, and my uncle laid laminate flooring over there and there are huge gaps between the boards all throughout the room. They didn't start separating til people started walking on it...

I think i'm missing something, if this is a laminate floor should it not at least be snap and lock, and even laminate says leave a gap around the base. If this is true they would all separate, a floating floor is locked together to keep this from happening. A hardwood floor or engineered floor is nailed or stapled to keep this from happening. maybe I'm wrong and just not seeing it. I guess I should say an engineered floor on a slab can also be glued.

You can glue laminate floor to the slab??? I'm gonna research that for sure! I did a little research today and I found out that you are supposed to leave a gap so it can expand with the temperature. The most likely reason for the wood separating at the other house is maybe the tenants slid their furniture when moving out. The internet says to put some glue in the groove and slide the laminate flooring back into place.

Sure would help if you could tell us for sure which type flooring you have, Pergo is just a brand name.
And no, laminite flooring can not be glued or attached in anyway to the underlayment.
Engineered flooring can be.

Lots of reasons the other floor your talking about could have failed.
Was nere installed right in the first place, not room left at the walls for expantion, someone nailed it to the subfloor, someone missed when shooting the nails into the base board and hit the floor, the floor got wet.

Moving furniture should have had no effect on it or millions of people that have laminite floors would have been rasing cane over it.

The floor that I am installing currently is actual pergo bought from home depot. The other house was some cheap imitation, not sure what brand...
