Pattern of hardwood to existing hardwood floors

I have existing hardwood floors in my foyer and dinning room and I'm about to lay hardwood in my great room and kitchen. The foyer and dinning room are layed in the same direction. Now my great room and kitchen are seperated by doorways into my foyer and dinning room. Should I lay the kitchen and dinning room the length of the rooms (which I would prefer, less cuts of course) or should I lay them in the same direction of the other two rooms?

thanks!

I have always installed Hardwood in the same direction otherwise it looks choppy not to mention Hardwood should run oppisite of your Joists IMHO.

Install in the sme direction else will ruin the look

Perpendicular to the joists important. Otherwise there is the chance of waves.
