particle board subfloor. What to do?

We are in the process of trying to level a dip in our floor. We ripped up a layer of lino and a layer of particle board to find another layer of particle board acting as the subfloor. It doesn't seem like the best material as its not all that solid and 'bounces' in places. Am I wrong? Should we remove all the particle board and then lay new OSB or can we just put the OSB on top of the particle board? (For the leveling, a slightly too low joist seems to be the problem and we were just going to put a layer of felt or something to level it if we could keep the particle board. I hope this makes sense!

Thank you for your help.

Your already at that point just take it up replace it with your ply or osb.
Particle board and or luon isn't recommended anymore to be for any type of subfloor.

It's all got to go. Use a Toe Kick saw to cut out along the wall after the baseboard is removed and an ossilating saw to cut into the corners. Then cut out squares in the center of the floor to make it easyer to remove it in sections.
Home Depot rents them and Northern Tool sells a cheap copy.
Use 3/4" Advantec T & G as a subflooring with constrution adhesive on top of the floor joist and screw it down with ceramic coated decking screws every
6".
