Painting a previously tiled floor
I have 3600 sq.ft. of retail showroom carpeted and tiled over a concrete slab. I would like an inexpensive floor treatment without using carpet. I have thought about painting the surface. What should I anticipate and are there better treatments?
The cheapest but worst floor covering is carpeting in regards to wear, maintenance and not being sanitary. So if you want a cheap initial cost that's about it? You can have that concrete fixed, but that'll cost a few bucks, and if you then paint it, you'll be making still another mistake. You should NEVER paint floors..doesn't work or look good for very long. If anything stain the floor.
By the way, carpet and vinyl floors although fairly cheap to buy, are actually some of the most expensive over their lifetime, as compared to floors with ceramic or porcelain tile as an example. Commercial porcelain and quarry tiles are the cheapest because they last so long and much cheaper to maintain.
