Old plank subfloor in old 1930 house-hardwoods?

Just moved into a 1930 Colonial House-the hardwoods are toast and I want to tear them up and replace them with 3/4inch solid oak wood. Right now the subfloor is 3/4inch 5 inch wide T&G plank (I have no idea what wood it is).

After ripping out the old hardwood-will my current subfloor suffice or should I overlay it with some plywood-some have reccomended putting 1/2 inch cdx plywood over the plank subfloor before installation-what do you guys think? Do I need the additional plywood (can i go 1/4 or 3/8th?) and what should I use to put it down-screws or nails?

Also, anyone have any expereince with the Bruce Plano Marsh that Home Depot is currently selling for 2.99 a foot? I have only found one person that has used it and said it looks good a year later but it did have a higher number of unusable boards-like 15% he said.

Thanks for the help guys.
