Old glue ok for New Linoleum?

Ripped out old linoleum. Old glue gets gooey with water application, which Im told means it is water based and tile can't be placed over it. Don't have time to remove all the old glue. If i put more linoleum down, do I have to remove all the old glue or can I just put a similar glue over the old stuff? 50 year old slab level, good condition.

Old glue ok for New Linoleum?

Vinyl adhesives have changed a lot thru the years. It may not be compatible, besides you probably won't end up with a smooth floor.
