I'm currently having a new home built with a full daylight basement. Two walls are poured, reinforced concrete with professionally applied water proofing. The basement slab is very smooth and level. Two of the walls are framed with 2' x 6's.

My question...I would like to use the basement for about a year with the poured concrete walls exposed until it cures properly, and hopefully, wicks off most of its moisture. During that one year waiting period would painting the floor to make it a more desriable area be a good idea? I plan after a year to put down ceramic tile in the bathroom areas and kitchen...and berber carpet in the rest of the area.

Am I inviting trouble for the laying of future ceramic tile by painting the floors for termporary use?

I wouldn't paint it. Look into staining and/or sealing.

I wouldn't do anything to the slab if you plan on tile. No need to seal it in my opinion. Definately don't paint it.

I agree with that.

I agree that it really not necessary to use the space...however the OP wanted to "make the space more desirable" and raw concrete is not desirable.

A quick seal makes the concrete cleaner and easier to sweep.
