new bamboo floor cracking

We installed bamboo flooring 7 months ago and it is already cracking. Every room now has several boards cracked lengthwise. Did I do this by using a Shark steam cleaner? We are in a desert climate.

lack of humidity can cup and crack bamboo floors (less than 20% humidity).
Is there any other signs of damage to the strips that have cracked, swelling ,etc?

No other damage-just long, thin cracks from end to end of board.

You may be able to get a manufacturer representative out there, was this flooring recommended to you, did you read the entire manufacture spec before installation?

It was recommended @ Lowe's. Acclimatized for 7 days in house prior to install and specs followed.

You need to go to lowes and have a manufacturer representative from where the bamboo was made come inspect the floor...they may replace it for you.....hide your steam cleaner

Using a dehumidifier or humidifier to maintain relative humidity in the home at 30-50% will maintain the moisture level in the wood and help minimize cracks between the boards. Continued excessive humidity may cause swelling of the floor. Continued lack of humidity (below 20%) can cause shrinking of the planks and/or cracking of the bamboo strips.

Epson is correct...but, you the consumer, was not warned of the downsides of your climate and the effect it would have on this style of laminate....
