Default Need ideas for hardwood...please help!

Hi all...we have a cherry hardwood in our entry way, dining room and kitchen. The living room that butts up to all 3 is carpet, which we want to change to hardwood. Problem is, the hardwood we have is discontinued. Any ideas on what we can do? We do NOT want more carpet - we are set on hardwoods. I can't find any pics on the net of different color woods butted up to each other so I am at a loss. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

I don't think I understand your post. You say you have cherry in three rooms. Assuming it is 3/4 inch cherry, you should be able to get similar size cherry at any good sized lumber yard. I get my cherry at the local mill, they will cut it any size, so there should be no problem at all finding it. At worst, you could order it if there is no lumber mill or hardwood supplier near you. You should also be able to get black walnut, butternut, oak, maple, ash, brazilian cherry, mahogany, or several other more exotic hardwoods at your local supplier.

If you don't like the color, you could get it stained before varnishing. Given all the choices of hardwood, combined with all the stains available, you should have lots of options available.

Well, the flooring is engineered, and we have brought home several samples that do NOT match. Grain / color is different and would absolutely be obvious. So, we were thinking about puting a decorative design down, and then a completely different color hardwood. I just can't find any pictures that represent this.
