Was my vinyl installed impropperly?

I had a small 4x10 sheet of vinyl installed a few days ago, but I think the installer laid it wrong. There are many bumps under the flooring, and my shoes leave tracks while walking on the new vinyl. He used a 1/4 notch trowel to lay the glue with, and used an entire quart for the area. Am I correct in assuming there is far too much glue below this vinyl, and this piece should be scraped and start over with new vinyl and new glue?:furious::furious::furious:

you will need to know the manufacturer to determine what the glueing requirements are. Also on a floor of that size he should of been using a roller after placing vinyl down which would of squeezed out excess glue. Some vinyl floors are very cushy and will tend to feel spongy, but not to the extent they leave foot prints.

Sounds like too much adhesive. Most vinyls take 1/16x1/16x1/16 trowel. Some even 1/32x1/32x1/32. 1/4 inch trowel is for some ceramic, it will leave way too much adhesive for vinyl.

1/4" trowel? Are you sure? Where did you find this person? A 1/4" trowel would likely use about a gallon, not just a qt. Please double check the facts.

However.......from what you say about the indentations.......someone owes you a new floor.
